In "An Early History of Papermaking" Scott Mingus, Jr., a scientist and consultant in the global pulp and paper industry, discusses the origins of paper and papermaking, including the transition from hand-made paper to automated paper machines. The focus is on the paper mills of York County, PA during the 19th century, including the Civil War. Scott will also include research on the Ohio Valley.
Scott Mingus is a scientist and consultant in the global pulp and paper industry, and holds patents in self-adhesive postage stamps and bar code labels. He has written 19 Civil War and Underground Railroad books. His biography of Confederate General William “Extra Billy” Smith won multiple awards, including the Dr. James I. Robertson Jr. Literary Prize for Confederate History. He has also written several articles for Gettysburg Magazine, as well as for various historical journals.
