Call of the Mummy: A Radio Play

October 27, 2026
12:00pm - 1:00am

Or-Seán Welles and the OCPL Players return to the airwaves with this long-anticipated production of Call of the Mummy. It is 1941, and reporter Margo Mason flies to Egypt, the land of the pharaohs, to report on the newly discovered tomb of Queen Hatshepsut and her advisor and lover, Senmut. Upon landing, Margo finds out that the mummy of Senmut has risen from his sarcophagus and set out on a string of murders. Doctor Brunton, head of the archaeologic dig, discovers the jar holding Hatshepsut’s heart is missing along with Senmut and seeks the help of Margo’s longtime rival, Jimmy Salton, and his team of archaeologic adventurers. Jimmy and Margo’s rivalry raises the stakes on the race to solve the mysteries of the risen mummy, the murders and the missing heart. There is a break in the case when Ivy Chapman, a British chanteuse, is possessed by the soul of Hatshepsut. Finally working together, Margo and Jimmy, and his team, rush to find Hatshepsut’s heart, defeat Senmut and save Ivy. Call of the Mummy is an adventure story typical of radio drama and the motion picture serials of the 1940s.
