This month, OCPL will again help serve as a collection site for the annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors food drive to benefit the local food agencies in Wheeling! Between November 1st and November 30th, individual contributions of non-perishable items can be placed in the designated collection boxes near the library entrances.
The term "non-perishable" refers to unrefridgerated food items that remain good for long periods of time as long as they remain upopened. Examples of this include: canned foods; dry goods such as powdered soups, pancake mix, pasta, chips, and crackers; sealed jars such as peanut butter or pickles; nuts and seeds; grains such as rice or oats; and individually packaged items such as chocolate bars or juice boxes.
At the end of the month, donations will be gathered and distributed by the drive's organizer, Lisa Werner. The donations will be taken directly to local agencies such as Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center, Family Service Upper Ohio Valley, House of the Carpenter Food Pantry, House of Hagar, the Wheeling YWCA, and more around the Upper Ohio Valley.
Join the OCPL as we participate in this incredible annual event and help fill the local food banks and pantries for the upcoming cold season! If you have any questions regarding the drive or how else you can get involved this holiday season, talk to the library staff.
