The Library is closed due to concerns over the potential spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our area. All Library programs are cancelled until further notice.
In the meantime, OCPL will release a new "Lunch With Books from the Vault" every Tuesday at noon on Lunch With Books Facebook page. Make sure to follow Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library for additional video programs and news updates.
Learn about the life of heroine, social reformer, and suffragist Margaret "Maggie" Brown in a first-person portrayal by JoAnn F. Peterson. Known as the heroine of the Titanic, Margaret Brown ran for Senate before women had the right to vote, helped form the U.S. juvenile court system, volunteered during WWI, and became an award-winning actress. In this program, you'll learn that her extraordinary life was even greater than the Hollywood hype of the fictitious character "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" which was loosely based on the real, amazing Margaret Brown.
Brown is portrayed by veteran Lunch With Books presenter, JoAnn Peterson. Peterson's portrayal will be set in 1922, 10 years after the Titanic's sinking. The Unsinkable Molly Brown comes to the Ohio County Public Library through the WV Humanities Council’s History Alive program.
"Lunch With Books" is the library’s flagship program for adult patrons. These lunchtime programs feature authors, poets, musicians, historians, and more every Tuesday at noon. Complimentary beverages are provided. Bring your lunch, feed your brain!
