Interested in helping us to celebrate National Poetry Month by participating in the first ever Open Mic Poetry Slam at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library on April 7, 2026 at 12 Noon to 1 PM?
Because time is limited, we will accept poets on a first come, first served basis. Please keep your recitation under 5 minutes so that we can accommodate as many poets as possible.
Please keep your poem "library-friendly."
Other than the above, no rules.
Here's a link to our sign up form ( or scan the QR code).
What is National Poetry Month?
Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month is a special occasion that celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture and that poetry matters. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry’s important place in our lives.
