August 2021 OCPL Programming Calendars Now Available

August 2021 OCPL Programming Calendars are now available!

It's been a minute (well, more like 18 months) since we've had a full schedule of in-person programming at the Library. Lunch With Books, Story Time, and Toddler Time are now all back in person and so are our programming calendars! Stop by the library to pick up a calendar or click here for a downloadable version of the August 2021 OCPL programming calendar.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMMING:

STORY TIME:
Story Time logoStory Time programs introduce young children to books, rhymes, songs, crafts, and other fun activities. Library Story Time incorporates the early literacy skills that children must master before they can learn to read. Story Times are designed for children 3-5 years old, though all ages are welcome. The program lasts approximately 45 minutes and caregivers are asked to participate with their children.

TODDLER TIME:
Toddler TimeBased on the "Mother Goose on the Loose" program, Toddler Time is a fun-filled thirty-minute interactive program that uses rhymes, songs, puppets, musical instruments, and more to stimulate the learning process of babies and toddlers. It is a proven method for planning and presenting programs that focus on the whole child. The "Mother Goose on the Loose" program helps children develop skills for success in a classroom. MGOL gives children opportunities to practice turn-taking, direction following, paying attention, and showing appreciation to others. The age-appropriate listening, moving, and singing that takes place in MGOL exercises fine and gross motor skills, fosters speech development, keeps children’s interest for an extended period of time, gives children opportunities to make scientific observations regarding cause and effect, and provides a joyful introduction to the world of books and reading.

This fall, the Ohio County Public Library Children’s Department has planned Toddler Times and Story Times both in-person at the Ohio County Public Library and virtually for those who can't make it to the Library. The programs will be broadcast live on the Library's Facebook page and the OCPL Kids YouTube channel. Toddler Time videos can be watched live on Mondays at 10:30. Story Time videos can be watched live on Tuesdays at 10. Recordings of our prior broadcasts can be viewed anytime on the Library's Story Time Online page.

LUNCH WITH BOOKS:
Lunch With Books logoLunch with Books is the library's flagship program for adult patrons. Bring a bag lunch and enjoy presentations by authors, poets, historians, musicians, and a variety of other people. Complimentary beverages are provided. Programs start at noon in the Library auditorium every Tuesday. For those who are unable to attend our programs in-person we will continue to offer our live-streamed broadcasts on YouTube and Facebook and recordings of past live-streamed videos can always be accessed on the Lunch With Books Livestream page.
