Check Out Themed Book Bags for Kids!

We know it can be time-consuming and cumbersome to browse our online catalog for kid's books. So we've made things easy for you. The Library is now offering themed book bags for young kids (pre-K to grade 1) and mid-elementary aged kids (grades 2-3) and older elementary (grades 4-5) to reserve for curbside pick-up. Each bag contains 10 books based on a common theme. Watch our videos to learn or read on

Do your kids like the ocean? Fascinated by Octopuses? Crazy about shark week? We have a bag of books that will go over swimmingly! Is your kid all about trucks? You'll love to haul this bag home. What about Space? We've got a bag for your burgeoning astronaut that's far out! For a wider variety, we also have bags of juvenile graphic novels for kids grade 2-4 and for slightly older kids.

What if my kids don't like trucks or graphic novels?

Not a problem! With over 35,000 items in our Kid's department, we can find items to fill any request. From dinosaurs to princesses to whatever you kids like to read about, we can create custom themed bags for you.

How do I reserve a themed bag of books?

If you read about a bag of books you'd like to reserve for your kids or would like to request a custom bag, just call the Library at 304-232-0244 and let us know what kind of books you'd like to reserve for your kids. When the book bags are ready to be picked up, we'll call you and arrange a time for you to pick up the bag and any other items you'd like to check out from the Library.

Have older kids?

Youtube Video on new chapter booksCheck out this video about the new J FIC chapter books now available at the Library. These books are good for kids who are about age eight to twelve. We have a new set of Minecraft chapter books, some new I Survived books, the first book in the new Angie Sage Enchanter's Child series (many of our big readers are big fans of her Septimus Heap Series), the first book in charming new middle-grade mystery series starring young detective Aggie Morton and her friend Hector, inspired by the imagined life of Agatha Christie as a child and her most popular creation, Hercule Poirot, and much, much more.

To reserve any of these books for curbside pick-up, call us at 304-232-0244 during our adjusted hours (10 am to 3 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and 10 am to 7 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays), or log into your account on our online catalog and reserve materials over the internet at https://tlc.ohiocountylibrary.org/.
