Library Closed Tuesday, Feb. 9, Due to Inclement Weather

Because of the current conditions on the roads, the library will be closed all day today, Tuesday, February 9th. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please stay safe and warm!

Though the Library building will be closed today, our online Lunch With Books program will continue as planned.

Lunch With Books - Feb 9 at noon:

Lunch With Books Livestream Program for February 9At noon today, as part of our Black History Month observation, our Lunch With Books Livestream will feature historian Jill L. Newmark presenting a fascinating program, "Oak Leaf on His Shoulder: African American Civil War Surgeons."

The story of African American medical personnel serving during the Civil War is an often neglected, but important part of Civil War history. This presentation explores the lives and service of three African American physicians who served as surgeons during the Civil War. Historical documents and images help illuminate their story and highlight their contributions to the Union's army success.

This program will be available to watch live on Facebook Live, on YouTube, and on the OCPL website's LWB Livestream page Log into your Facebook or YouTube account during the program to leave questions for Jill in the comments box. She will answer them during the live broadcast.
