Read Beyond the Beaten Path to Kickoff for All Ages at the OCPL!

Summer Reading Fun Scheduled to Kickoff Beyond the Beaten Path at OCPL! 

Read Beyond the Beaten Path, the 2022 Summer Reading Program from the Ohio County Public Library, is scheduled to kickoff Thursday, May 26, 2022. The event will feature the amazing animals from Wild World of Animals. Additionally, the event will be the first night registration will be available for the popular summer reading program at the library. The first fifty people to register, in their age group will receive a FREE prize bag. 

All ages are encouraged to participate in the Ohio County Public Library Summer Reading Program. Reading, activities and programs are designed for everyone to participate. 

Registration will continue following the May 26th kickoff program online and at the Ohio County Public Library. The Summer Reading Program will begin Monday, June 6th and continue until Saturday, July 16th. During that time, readers able to log their minutes spent reading during that time using the iRead website or App.

The Ohio County Public Library is excited to announce that Oglebay is giving you the opportunity to win a great prize! Sign up for the Read Beyond the Beaten Path Summer Reading Program beginning Thursday, May 26th at the Summer Reading Kickoff event and you'll have the opportunity to win a family pack of All Day Activity Wristbands from Oglebay!

If you aren't able to make it to the kickoff program on Thursday, May 26th, don't worry. There will still be time to entering to win until June 13, 2022 at 12:00am by registering for the Summer Reading Program online or at the Ohio County Public Library. Weekly Activities Scheduled in Conjunction with Summer Reading Program

In conjunction with the Ohio County Public Library's Summer Reading program, special weekly activities and programs have been scheduled throughout the summer for all ages to explore! 

Makers Monday will be held in the library's Children's Department on Mondays during the Summer Reading Program from 2pm-8pm (excluding June 20th and July 4th, on which days the library will be closed.) Stop by on various dates for fun activities like BUILDING A TOWER USING STAWS AND APPLES,  BUILD A FISH COMPASS, CREATE A RAINBOW FISH ORNAMENT, BUILD A BEE HOUSE, BUILD AN ORIGAMI PLANTER & MUCH MORE. Visit the Ohio County Public Library calendar for more details. 

 

Thursday Fun Day will be held in our Children's Department on Thursdays during the Summer Reading Program from 2pm-3pm. Make a butterfly garden to take home, make a honeycomb candle, identify animal tracks and more! Visit the Ohio County Public Library calendar for more details! 

 

 

YA Camp Crafts with Ellen will be held in our classroom June 16th and July 7th. On June 16th, YA patrons will be able to create their own custom tote bag to take home. On July 7th, YA patrons will be creating painted kindness rocks to take with them for their garden or neighborhood. Visit the Ohio County Public Library calendar for more details! 

 

 

Summer Learning Fun on Thursday evenings is perfect for all ages. Sessions will be held in the OCPL Auditorium, except for June 30th at Wheeling Park. Sessions will feature a variety of speakers including Dan Caron: Monarchs & More, Windswept Farm: Beekeepers & Bees, Mick Brown: Falcons, Owls & Falconry. Story Time, Toddler Time, Lunch with Books, Lego Club, a new People's University series and other regular programming also continue this summer at the Ohio County Public Library. There is truly something for everyone to discover at the Ohio County Public Library!
