What Do I Read Next? @ OCPL

As of June 8, 2020, the library is open for curbside service. OCPL card holders may reserve books and other Library materials through our online catalog by logging in with their library account, or they may call the library with specific requests.  Library staff members will then pull the items and call the patron to arrange a pick-up time.  However, that leaves those of you who like to browse the library shelves with a problem, namely "What do I read next?" 

Until we can safely open our doors again, please consider the following:

1) Browse our online collection.  To get there from our website, click on the box  that says "Search" at the top of the library's home page, wait for the search bar to slide out, then click on "Search Catalog."  Patrons can log in to their account with their Library card number and 4-digit PIN (first four letters of your last name, all lowercase letters), then search by title, author, and/or subject for books to place on reserve.

There is also a scrolling carousel at the top of the catalog page that features the newest additions to our collection.  You can click on a book jacket to read a description of the item, and then click "Place a Hold" to reserve the item. 

2) Like and follow the Ohio County Public Library page on Facebook.  We will be posting photos of new books as they are being processed.  You can "browse" these photos and contact us to reserve any items that look appealing. These photos will also be sent out via email blast to our patrons who have signed up for "News & Announcement " email notifications.  Sign up for this email list by heading to our news page, then click on the subscribe button, then sign up to receive updates from "News and Announcements. Or download our free OCPL Connect smartphone app and  make sure to select "New Releases" under "Settings." You'll receive notifications on your smartphone when new releases are added to our website. 

3) Finally, please call us!  The Reference Staff will happily discuss your likes and dislikes and suggest new titles or authors that you might enjoy.  We can also suggest other websites you can browse independently to find new reads to request from us.
